Entering Kindergarten
Students
must read Miss Bindergarten Gets Ready for Kindergarten by Joseph Slate with their parents. Each student then
must draw a picture of what he/she would like to learn about in kindergarten or what he/she believes will be the best part
of kindergarten.
Students
Entering First Grade
Students
must read:
Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak
Lyle, Lyle Crocodile by Bernard Waber
A House for a Hermit Crab by Eric Carle
Each student should then choose one of the books and draw a picture depicting his/her favorite part of that book. Students should
read as much as possible during the summer, keeping personal logs of all of the books they read. In September,
each student should return to school with a list of books read during summer vacation.

Students are required to keep handwritten notes; typed notes are not accepted.
Notes will be graded. Students also be prepared for in-class reports in September.

Eighth Grade

Code Talker by Joseph Bruchac (This book will also be used for history class.)
Jinxed by Carol Higgins Clark
